Star Wars Party

To celebrate the end of the space unit study we’ve been doing (and to celebrate some of the stuffed bunnies birthday party), we had a Star Wars themed party.

This unit was so much fun, we enjoyed reading space books and watching space movies each and every day!  I’ll post pictures of some of our finished work later.

Leia Buns, Yoda Soda, Light Saber pretzels

Wookie Cookies, Thermal Detonators

Han Burgers

There are more pictures of the party but they are on Grandma’s camera.

Chicken Heart Dissection

We went to the homeschool class at Mobius and did a chicken heart dissection!

Heart papers

“The heart is a pump and the heart pumps blood, the heart pumps blood, the heart pumps blood, the heart is a pump and the heart pumps blood, lub dub, lub dub, lub dub!”

This is the new favorite song to sing :)

Chicken hearts

Homemade stethoscopes

We learned so much:  The heart is a muscle, it is the size of your closed fist, it weighs about as much as an orange, and so much more.

We had so much fun, the girls can’t wait till we do another class!

Valentine’s Week

Our friendly Christmas elf Chris came by for a visit. The girls had been really missing him, so it was a great surprise!

The beautiful roses for me, and the valentines fairy garden.

Our first Mobius kids classes.  In the morning we did Little Learners, Sun, Moon, and Stars.  There were some fun activities, with matching flash cards and decorating telescopes.

In the afternoon we did a class called Density is Fun!  We checked to see if different balls (golf, ping pong, bouncy, and glass) floated or sank in water.  Predicted what regular vs. diet sodas would do, and then made some fun layered liquids and again saw where the balls floated relative to the syrups, soap, water, and oils.

Then we had some free play in the children’s museum area.

We did some of our math facts sorting, and writing of our math facts in our journal.

Long vowel game and  practice.

Moon Phases, Ice Skating, and February Week 2

Moon phases with Oreo cookies and moon phase flip books that we made.

Final ice skating lesson of the season, and hockey day!  Favorite day of the lessons!

Moon painting

More space books from the library.

Making Valentines!

Third lost tooth!

Mobius Kids

On Superbowl Sunday, we decided to avoid the game by going to Mobius and then ice skating.
In ice skating news, Selena JUMPED!  Yes, she JUMPED!  Not some fancy figure skating jump, but a two footed monster jump.  She also can turn around on the ice, and does so frequently with no warning!  No pictures with our camera, but Grandma Judy got pictures on hers.

February Begins and Groundhog Day

Some fun Groundhog Day activities, we are sad that the groundhog saw his shadow, we are ready for spring!

Go Fish ABC’s

Letter writing practice in sand.
